Your job search has many components – the resume, cover letter, interviews, and the job search plan itself. It takes a lot of work to get it right!
As we head into Thanksgiving week, you can feel the days getting shorter and the end of the year looming.
For some, there’s pressure to job search compulsively. For others, there’s the holiday job search slump. My advice is to use the remaining 5 weeks to job search in moderation. Most importantly, use the time to establish, rekindle or connect with people!
It may also be time to freshen your job search strategy and materials.
That’s what this week’s summary is about. You’ll find tips to help you:
- Update your resume
- Fine-tune your cover letter
- 15 actionable job search tips
- October’s Recruiting Index
- How to get the interviewer to like you
- Design your portfolio career
There will always be conflicting advice. It’s not that either is right or wrong. The advice has to be right for your unique situation. Be sure to get it right by using your critical thinking skills.

CAREER
Why You Should Build a “Career Portfolio” (Not a “Career Path”) | Harvard Business Review
