I am not one who believes in trying to be politically correct. Instead, I want to be known as someone who is respectful, polite, and a person of integrity.
Does this get me in trouble…you betcha. It saddens me every time someone mistakes my intentions.
One day, I will realize that perception is reality. It doesn't matter what my intentions are if they have been misperceived by my audience.
Interviewing, networking, chatting with friends- in every exchange we encounter, we run the risk of being misunderstood.
How can you be sure your message is clearly received and perceived…
- Be impeccable with your word (The Four Agreements)
- Know who you are speaking to and what is important to them
- Leave your emotions out of it
- Learn from your past mistakes
Happy communicating!
