Taking the Focus off of YOU
When you teach others, the emphasis is on helping others. So what can you teach someone? Anyone!
Think about the natural talents that you take for granted.
- Organizational skills
- Technology skills
- Researching skills
- Sales skills
Are there people you know who can benefit from some of what you know? Rather than PUSH yourself on them, listen for cues that indicate people need help and then offer your skills (for free or for barter).
Focus on Self Development
When you take the initiative to learn something, you are solving a problem and the end result is… you feel good!
Find ways to develop new skills:
- Free online workshops
- Free online classes (see this post for a listing of free classes offered by top resources/colleges)
- Read a book (here are some of my recommendations)
- Attend a seminar or conference
This week, which one of these will you put into practice?
