Like evangelists, people who network want to spread the good word about how it has helped them. They try to convince and convert the people who are non-believers to join them in celebrating the power of building mutually beneficial relationships. The non-believers are skeptics. There are far too many reasons NOT to network and so, they don’t.
My post this week on On Careers identifies the top 10 excuses I hear for not networking. Do any of these sound familiar?
- I don’t know anyone.
- I don’t have time.
- I have run out of people to talk to.
- I am too shy.
- People keep turning me down for informational interviews.
I hope you’ll head on over to the full list!
And what are the reasons you tell yourself you won’t network? This evangelist wants to try and convert you!
